As the store manager of an Anthropologie as well as avid vintage collectors, Jenn + Andy knew immediately that they wanted to go with an eclectic, vintage, DIY theme. They had no bridal party, no bouquet toss and a loose theme that allowed for lots of interpretation – which equals lots of fun to me! They also searched hard to find a venue that was unique and when they stumbled upon the amazing Coloma Country Inn, they knew they found the perfect location. Jenn wrote the ceremony herself, they boogied down the aisle to “Putting All My Eggs in One Basket” by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and danced through pom poms on the way out! Such a fun wedding! Thanks so much to our awesome sponsor Ashley Maxwell for the gorgeous photos and sending this wedding our way!
Most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Hands down the ceremony. I actually wrote the ceremony myself, so it was completely us! My friend who is an actress served as our officiant to make it extra special. We included a Native American blanket ceremony using a blanket from my husband’s great aunts sister handmade. Also included was a love box ceremony where we each placed hand written letters, a bottle of wine and glasses in. The box was locked and will be opened on our first anniversary to enjoy its contents, as well as place another set of letters and bottle of wine to enjoy on our next anniversary.
Any advice for those planning now?
Tailor the day to what you want to do vs. what is “the norm” at a wedding. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain. I got a lot of static from people for some of my choices, but once all the pieces came together people understood and loved it! People really enjoyed a different type of wedding.
