An Austin Music Wedding: Adrienne + Kenny

Adrienne + Kenny met in the third grade. They grew up best friends and in high school realized they were more than just best friends and were meant to be together – forever. :) They wanted their wedding to showcase their relationship and bring together all their closest friends + family. Kenny is a musician in Austin and they both share a love for music. They also love old things (just imagine where it’s been says Adrienne) and wanted those both to be present in their wedding. Gorgeous photos by Clayton Austin. Congrats to Adrienne + Kenny!

From Adrienne, The ceremony was laid out as if you were at a small local music fest; our grandmother’s quilts out for lawn seating in front. Wedding invitations were show posters created by the artist & friend who does all Kenny’s bands show posters, and all the décor we brought to the venue was a collection of things from around our house, cherished heirlooms and knickknacks borrowed from close family or things simply made by our creative wedding party and/or indie artists. Almost everything created for our day (from the wedding invitations to our darling banner to our centerpieces) were complete works of art and labors of love.

What song did you walk down the aisle to? “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles, which went perfectly with our “♥” and “All you need is ♥” flags! We exited to: “Your Touch” by The Black Keys

Most memorable moment of your wedding day? Hmmm… a moment is hard to pinpoint. Lets start with moments: It was important to us to create personal and meaningful vows that represent us individually and as a partnership. Expressing our personal vows to each other in front of everyone we love and trust the most was one of the funniest, most passionate, energizing, breathtaking, and emotionally powerful experiences.

If I were to go with just a ‘moment’ it would be the moment I entered the garden grounds where the ceremony was set, music playing in the background and I see everyone we love so dearly pridefully standing as I walk towards my glowing best friend. The love and support that hit me was so overwhelming, I started to cry.

Any advice for those planning now? Communicate. Listen to your partner. Appreciate the process. Enjoy the conversations and planning you and your partner are coming together to do. When it’s not fun (and I hate to break it to you, but it’s not always darling rainbows and butterflies) move on to something else and revisit it at a later time. Prioritize what’s important and spend your money & time on those things! Oh, and let those who desire to help, help. What’s better than having help from those you love to create something to represent you and your partner on one of the most memorable days of your life?!
