Ace Hotel, DIY Details + Hidden Chewbacca: Alissa + Todd

ace hotel wedding

Alissa + Todd were inspired by the natural amazingness of the desert for their wedding – the mountains + palm trees made the perfect backdrop for their outdoor ceremony at The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. They love Palm Springs since it brings them a sense of calmness + clarity, so it made perfect sense for them to have their wedding there. They used tons of decor from their living room so that their wedding felt like home. They used their own kilim rugs for the ceremony and sprinkled lots of cute trinkets from their house like little vintage radios and cameras throughout the venue. Thanks to Love Me Sailor for the photos!

One of Alissa’s favorite memories from the day was hiding Chewbacca in Todd’s jacket pocket and then him surprising her by actually wearing it as his “pocket square” for the entire wedding! They have a fun game at home where they hide Chewbacca in different places in the house and the other has to find it. So cute!!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

If you are doing lots of DIY projects, as we did, allow more time than you can imagine you will need. Call on your friends for crafting nights to get your projects done (bribe them with wine and cheese!). Also, having a sweetheart table is the way to go: it allows you to EAT!, time to talk to your honey + reflect on the entire experience and watch all the guests enjoy themselves.
