Rachael + Mike found most of their wedding vendors here on Green Wedding Shoes, so I’m super excited to share their gorgeous wedding! Rachael + Mike were married in Mike’s parent’s backyard outside Chicago, Illinois. They wanted a wedding that reflected who they were as a couple 100%, so with their love of home, family, chicago style deep dish pizza + travel, Carter & Cook Event Co. helped them create a beautiful yet whimsical backyard affair. The wedding was intimate, but was jam packed with lots of details that made it perfect for Rachael + Mike. Gorgeous photos by Stone Crandall Photography.
Always love those first look photos! :)
How gorgeous is their ceremony location?! The ceremony was designed to reflect a sweet flower market with the varying heights of silver french flower buckets. Vases were wrapped in old map to give off a ‘fresh from the market’ type of garden feel & contrasted with beautiful flower arrangements bursting with peonies.
Because of their love for traveling and getting married in a backyard, they wanted their wedding to have a bit of travel flare, but with sophistication and soft beautiful colors. Carter & Cook Event Co. used 1000’s of paper heart maps to create a fun garland that covered the canopy tent. Posh Paperie interwove the couple’s travel theme through the invitations and all the wedding day paper items.
Guests found their escort cards via a paper airplane on a large burlap map tapestry.
For dessert, guests enjoyed Yorkville’s famous pastries, donut holes, home baked cookies and sweets.
Such a sweet + personal wedding! Congrats to Rachael + Mike!!

I like the photos wherein the bride walks, approaches the groom. :)
nice reception too! :)
Seeing this title made me a bit nervous–I’m a different Rachael who’s also with a Mike. I was worried that maybe I’d gotten married and blacked out completely or something and didn’t remember any of it, but that’s clearly not the case. If I had, though, these pictures would definitely be lovely ones to look back on! Congrats Rachael and Mike!
This is far from whimsical, it looks like a wedding any girl would dream of
The first look is so sweet–I love how the groom smile as she gets closer. That patisserie bar looks amazing and I really like the tapestry. So creative! Best wishes to Rachael and Mike!
