I am SO excited to share today’s feature with you guys!! Remember this inspiration board I created based on the Movie (500) Days of Summer a few months back? Well, it turns out that my idea of a wedding inspired from that movie also caught the attention of Serendipty Magazine. They asked myself and Esther Kim of My Bride Story to bring the concept to life for their summer issue. And the issue is out this week, so we can share the shoot here on Green Wedding Shoes now also :)
To help bring our idea to life, we asked florist extraordinaire Lauryl Lane to help brainstorm ideas and create the florals for the shoot. The three of us decided that to transform this idea into reality, we would give our bride and groom a story. Fashion designer Sophia and architect Alex would be an artsy couple that reside in downtown Los Angeles. They would share a love for the city, all things vintage and the movie, 500 Days of Summer. The movie would serve as an inspiration for their wedding, with Alex’s architectural foundation and Sophia’s fashionable feminine, vintage overlay would be symbolic of their two styles joining together in their years to come. Oh, and before we go to the photos, it needs to be mentioned that this shoot wouldn’t look as great as it does without the photography talents of Sarah Yates. I’ve known Sarah for a little bit now, so it was super fun to have her photograph my first big shoot. Thanks Sarah!!
Beautiful pink shoes from shoebuy.com (Bordello). We got ready at the gorgeous Oviatt Penthouse, then it was off to get some portraits at Angels Knoll Park, a familiar date place for the couple in the movie. I knew I wanted the bride to wear a vintage dress, so I searched around to find the perfect vintage dress. I ended up selecting a 1950’s pink hued vintage wedding dress with a blue flower belt by Mill Crest Vintage and a birdcage veil tilted to the side custom made by Rachel Larraine.
How gorgeous is she in this vintage dress?!! So so pretty. I didn’t see the groom in a typical tux. I wanted something a bit more fun + casual for our groom. The groom’s vest is from J Crew. Pants and shirt are from H&M and the tie is from Urban Outfitters.
I love shoe pics! Groom’s shoes are also from shoebuy.com (Superga) and the socks are from H&M.
The Oviatt Penthouse has a gorgeous art deco lobby – perfect for some more photos before we head up to the rooftop for the reception.
Check back in a little bit for parts two and three – lots of amazing reception details and the full vendor list coming up next!
OMG no you didn’t! I’m obsessed with that movie, I think it’s one of the most romantic (and bittersweet) I’ve ever seen. So just imagine my excitement when I read the title for this post! Gorgeousness, I love.

O_O I have a chiffon gown and birdcage veil and was planning on having my *Asian* groom wear a casual grey spring suit, but I’m gonna just go ahead and steal this relaxed idea of the button up and vest! Wonderful! <3
