So excited to finally be able to share this one! A few months ago I collaborated with a bunch of talented ladies to create a Southern-style wedding inspiration shoot for Southern Weddings magazine. They contacted their favorite bloggers and designers to put together a shoot to show what their idea of a Southern wedding was to them. It was so much fun!
We imagined a couple where he was from the the south + she was from the south, but south for her being Southern California. Their wedding would be a perfect mix of them both. Inspired by green tomatoes, raw cotton and magnolia flowers from the south and succulents, tomatillos, poppies and lace from Cali, they were able to infuse a perfect outdoor Southern wedding. I need to give a big shout out to Carissa from JL Designs who helped me with the concept, design and created all the gorgeous florals for the shoot and to the fabulous Stephanie Williams for taking the most beautiful photos of our ideas.
How great is that bouquet!? Carissa used peach parrot tulips, blush and coral poppies (california state flower of course!), minty green succulents (which are found all over our state beaches) and finished in crochet lace with a gold/pink cameo…so so pretty!!
We built a beautiful organic inspired ceremony backdrop made of fabric, lace, raw cotton, green tomatoes and paper magnolia blooms. It was so pretty – I wished I was getting married there!!
The bride’s awesome veil is from Lo Boheme and her sweet dress is by Temperley London.
The reception…..sigh, so so pretty. The GORGEOUS table and chairs were provided by Found Vintage Rentals.
And how pretty is the centerpiece created by Carissa?! Perfect combination of magnolia leaves, white lilac, queen anne’s lace, raw cotton, succulents, mint and green wheat, green tomatoes, succulents, tomatillos and raw cotton.
A cute tomatillo on each plate for a pop of color!
Ok, how amazing beautiful is her dress??!! I fell in love with this dress from Temperley London many months ago and when I started dreaming up this shoot, knew it would work perfectly for this. It is even more beautiful in person…The feather hair piece is also from Lo Boheme.
What’s more fun (and southern!) then a bouquet made of raw cotton and tomatillos!
We also had a Hint of Mint bar where guests could create their own cocktail with their choice of bourbon + sweet tea (southern style) OR rum and peach nectar (cali style), then muddle some mint, and select their type of sugar + fruit.
All the lovely tags and sign were designed by MaeMae Paperie.
And some yummy oatmeal whoopie pies for dessert!
I hope you guys enjoyed our take on a Southern Wedding! Thanks SO much to the lovely ladies at Southern Weddings for inviting us to be a part of this fun feature. I can’t wait to check out the entire magazine. I’ve seen some sneak peaks and this issue looks so inspiring! It hit newsstands on Monday, so be on the look out. Also, be sure to check out both 100 Layer Cake and Once Wed for their takes on Southern Weddings.
