This Nantucket wedding is just perfection! Gorgeous couple, beautiful dresses, lots of pink peonies (one of my favorites!), oysters, dancing + photos filled with emotion captured by the talented Clayton Austin.
From Marissa, “We originally wanted a really low-key wedding in Jamaica, but when we went down there to scout it out, we all got food poisoning. We saw it as a bit of a bad omen, so we went back to the drawing board. In a lot of ways Nantucket was an obvious choice because we both love it and it’s close to family and friends, but it’s so different from what we originally envisioned, and we’re not really the typical Nantucket couple. But we found ways to bring Jamaica to Nantucket, like a steel drum procession from the church and tons of bright colors. And our vendors were so amazing in terms of encouraging us to express ourselves. Now we can’t imagine having gotten married anywhere else. We fell in love with Nantucket all over again and it will def always be a special place for us.”
Most memorable moment of your wedding day? There are two. One, when the doors opened at church, right before I walked down the aisle. Nothing prepares you for the rush of emotions you feel when you see everyone you love standing in one room, and it was the first time we saw each other on the day. The second was when the band gave the mic to Casey during the last song (Shout) – it was horrible but hilarious.
What a gorgeous bridal party! Love the bright colors + the gorgeous dresses + the guys in their tuxes.
Such a gorgeous couple and no one captures couples in love better than Clayton Austin!
Pretty pretty peonies! Love that there were peonies everywhere.
Any advice for those planning now? I was pretty worried about being a bridezilla so I found myself feeling embarrassed about much I obsessed over the details. Don’t be embarrassed! It’s ok to care about this stuff! (As long as it’s fun obsessing, not stressful obsessing). When it was all said and done, we were so glad we put so much thought into it. The best compliments I got that day were people saying “this wedding is SO you guys.”
Thanks so much Marissa + Casey for sharing your lovely day with us and we wish you a lifetime of happiness! You can see even more from their beautiful wedding here on Clayton’s Blog.
