First, thank you so much for all your sweet comments and tweets about the post yesterday! I’m really glad everyone is loving it as much as we loved creating it. So, on to part 2! There are two scenes for today’s feature. The first involves a chair. In a field. To me, there is just something that I love about the unexpected scene with a chair or sofa outside in a field. Anyways, I mentioned this idea to Jason, and he loved it too, so we were on the hunt for the perfect chair or couch. After checking out numerous thrift stores/vintage stores/yard sales, I found the most perfect chair at a small store in Venice Beach. There was only one problem with the chair. I drive a Mini Cooper…so we had to rent a van to lug all the props, flowers, balloons, and clothes. I might just have to buy a larger car, but really really love my mini – something to consider when incorporating props into your photos.
I love the colors of the chair and wanted to play off the blues in the chair with our clothes and flowers. I found the most perfect blue thistles at the Flower Market. I wanted to keep this bouquet simple with just the thistles, but added a bit of green. Jason’s vest is from Urban Outfitters – it was the exact look I was going for. I love when he wears a vest and tie! His hat and tie are also from Urban Outfitters. My dress is from Heritage 1981. Boots are Steve Madden. Caroline found this location and it was perfect. I love how the two tall trees frame the scene.
How cute is my husband??!! I am one lucky girl. :) Ok, I bet you are wondering about that AMAZING flower in my hair. I contacted one of my new favorite designers Amanda at Untamed Petals to see if see would be interested in creating a few unique pieces for the shoot. I sent her some photos of the dresses I was going to wear and told her what kind of look I wanted to go for and she sent me a bunch of beautiful options. This flower was the perfect look I was going for – a bit hippie, a bit vintage and lots of fun – plus I knew it would look great in photos. So thank you so much Amanda! Check out her shop, she has lots of great pieces and will also do custom orders, plus she is just the sweetest.
I am so in love with these images Caroline captured! It really is great when the stylist and photographer are on the same page.
Um, love this…I’m thinking maybe it needs to be a canvas for our new house??!
We had brought two balloons, so we had a green one to play with for a bit also. We did one last clothing change, but then realized we forgot to get some photos with Jason playing his guitar! So, we needed some of those. I love this series…look how happy he is! He just wrote me a song here – ok, funny story, we both had bought guitars before we met and tried to teach ourselves to play without much success – and still each have our guitars! Anyways, I love acoustic music and thought it would be fun to have some of him playing – he is good at Guitar Hero… :)
Hairpiece by Untamed Petals and dress from Forever 21. If you are patient, you can find some great stuff there for your pictures (I’m also lucky that there is a huge one right down the street from my house).
I really love the photos Caroline captured with all the scenery. Maybe that one above is the canvas! We really live in such a beautiful city and I’m glad that Caroline captured it. Now to the final part – our passion for music. I thought the best way to capture this would be with an old record player and lots of records. Oh, and the last bouquet. I’m not sure what these flowers are, but I just loved them and thought they played off the light purple in my dress perfectly. And another great hairpiece by Untamed Petals! ***Update – thanks to reader Megan for letting me know what the flowers are – Misty Blue or Limonium.
Then I had this idea to paint our names and lyrics on the records. I thought it would be new, fun and uniquely us – don’t worry, the records I painted on were scratched or just really really bad.
I LOVE this last photo. All the records were bought at thrift stores and Amoeba Records and are bands we love. I bought the record player on eBay and have been enjoying listening to records on it while cooking dinner :)
It was starting to get dark, so Caroline had us climb back up the first hill to get some of her signature silhouette photos – so cute!
I hope you all enjoyed learning more what a stylist does and what all goes into a styled photo shoot. Caroline and I had so much fun working together to create this. Caroline has even more photos from part 2 on her blog, so be sure to click over and check them out. It takes some great ideas and styling for great photos, but it also takes a talented photographer to capture it in the perfect way, which Caroline far exceeded my expectations. So thank you, thank you! We will treasure these photos forever! Thanks so much to everyone involved in this and can’t wait to work on some more projects for Green Wedding Shoes and hopefully some of you couples out there. Speaking of that, Caroline and I will have an exciting announcement to share tomorrow! Such a fun week here on Green Wedding Shoes :)

I'm in love with the record player and records. My fiance are record lovers and I would love to incorporate them. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ever since I saw this post in January, I have wanted to incorporate records into our engagement photos. I didn't have time to find a cute vintage record player like you had, but I shared the idea with our photographer and I had my fiance grab a stack of records for the session. There are a couple of shots of us with the records that just look AMAZING! So thank you for your ideas!
My fiance was a dj during college and 6 years out, he still loves playing his records on his old turntables at home. So I just knew this would be perfect for us!
If you want to see the pics, go to http://www.chriswphoto.com, then click View Recent Events at the top. Then go to Lindsay and Kyle Engagement 2/28/10. We also did A LOT of pics with martinis and cigars, which we love as well.
Anyway, thanks again for all your inpiration!

Wondering where you bought the beautiful dress you’re wearing in the first half of the shoot, (when you have the white flower in your hair). I’m getting married on the beach very soon and you have captured the look I am after just perfectly!
Hi Claire! That dress is from Forever 21 :)
