I’m so glad everyone enjoyed our first Honeymoon post last month. This month, I’m super excited to share another unique hotel and a peek into a stay there from a past bride and current blogger, Jenn. Jenn + Josh traveled to New Zealand and stayed in a trrehouse! How cool is that!! I’ll let her talk more about her amazing honeymoon. Thanks Jenn!
From Jenn, “My husband and I traveled to New Zealand two years ago for our honeymoon. We started in Auckland and road-tripped/ferried about 950 miles south to Queenstown. The most memorable place we stayed at during our time in New Zealand was the Hapuku Lodge and Tree Houses in Kaikoura. Kaikoura is situated on the east coast of the south island approximately 100 miles south of Picton (the ferry port between the north and south islands). We were fortunate to stay in one of the five tree houses at the Hapuku Lodge that overlooked vast greenery, the dramatic mountain range, and the emerald waters of the pacific coastline! Our tree house was equipped with a wood-burning fireplace, heated towel rails and bathroom floor, a couple’s spa bath, a rain fountain shower that opened directly onto a tree-top deck, and a hand crafted custom-made extra-large king bed. Most of the furniture throughout the lodge is designed by the owners and handcrafted by local wood workers.”
“The staff treated us like royalty at the Hapuku Lodge. Everyone on site was so friendly and helpful with any questions we had during our stay there and breakfast was included when we booked the tree house. We ordered homemade muesli parfaits, pancakes with caramelized bananas and the freshest of fruits, and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. It was all so amazing and beyond delicious. :) There are many things to do in Kaikoura if you’re up to it — whale watching, swimming with the dolphins, kayaking, hiking…the list goes on! The husband and I decided to take advantage of our stay in the tree house so we hung out around the beautiful lodge, lounged on their hand crafted patio furniture, took walks around the property, and enjoyed everything the lodge had to offer.”
“If you’re looking for a unique, elegantly rustic and romantic place to spend your days during your honeymoon, the Hapuku Lodge and Tree House in Kaikoura is for you. You will not regret your decision. New Zealand as a whole has so much to offer!”
Thanks Jenn! New Zealand is already on my travel list and the Hapuku Lodge sounds pretty amazing!

GORGEOUS!!! More honeymoon posts, please!!! :)
Thank you for this post! We are planning on going to New Zealand for our honeymoon and now I will definitely trying to make a reservation there!
BEAUTIFUL! I can’t believe there’s a place like this!? That’s crazy/awesome!
What a beautiful honeymoon destination! It is gorgeous!
Absolutely fantastic and unique. Love it!!!
This is so neat! I had no idea it was even an option! Thanks so much for sharing!
Forget the honeymoon…I want to live there!
oh me oh my! that looks amazing!!
Thanks for sharing this fantastic location. As an expat myself, I just have to say you can’t go wrong in NZ. As a another traveller said “there are no bad choices here”. That being said it is a lot more pleasant if you can avoid NZ winter (Jun-Aug) and be sure that you go long enough to see enough. A week just doesn’t cut it!
jen, i LOVED the way you put this together! it’s so perfect–the images you used captures the essence of nz/kaikoura so well! thanks again!!

Wow, it looks so amazing! Must bookmark this!
Wow! This place looks amazing! I am currently planning my honeymoon, so I looooove these posts!
More honeymoons please!
WOW!!! I’m FROM New Zealand and LIVING in New Zealand, and getting married next NYE (31/12/2011) and I want to spend my honeymoon here in NZ now thanks to this post! Alternatively styled weddings aren’t very popular here and I’m finding it hard to get all the things I wish to have at my wedding, but I’ll get there! This website is my favourite site for information.
Hapuku Lodge looks like a fantastic honeymoon retreat! I’d love to visit New Zealand, the scenery is spectacular and there are so many activities to do. A twin centre honeymoon would be a great way of exploring two different areas of New Zealand, maybe a stay in Christchurch before heading out for some adventures in Wanaka.
Wow this place is really look like a heaven. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful post with us .
A tree house? wow! this is really amazing!I wanna try spending our time together in a tree house! Thanks for posting.
