A Honeymoon in Paris

paris honeymoon

So, last week we shared a bit about our recent trip to Mallorca, Spain and today we are sharing some photos + tips from our trip to Paris. :) This was Jason + my second trip to Paris (you can read more about our first trip here), but the first with our daughter Sienna (who is two). After this trip, I’m a big believer that not only is Paris the perfect spot for a honeymoon, it also makes a great anniversary spot or special trip with your little ones. :)

My favorite part of visiting Paris is just walking around and exploring – with many stops for little food + wine treats :) So, the biggest decision if you are planning a honeymoon (or trip here) is where to base your stay. You’ll want to stay in a good central spot so you aren’t spending too much time getting everywhere you want to go – especially if you only have a few days in the city. With so many options of different parts of the city and different types of hotels, we decided to partner with Mr & Mrs Smith on where we should stay. Have you guys heard of Mr & Mrs Smith? They are a pretty rad company in that they do all the research for you in finding the perfect hotel for you! A bit about them: “Smith has been travelling the world in search of the best boutique and luxury hotels for the last 10 years, checking in everywhere from big city stays to remote rural guesthouses to bring you our hand-picked collection. To make the grade, a hotel not only has to have an unmatched ambience and hit the right style notes, it has to tick that ‘certain something’ box: the welcome should be warm, without fuss or formality; rooms should be seductive and supplied with thoughtful extras; drinks must be perfectly mixed, dinners delicious, and, crucially, the stay must be memorable for all the right reasons.”

After sharing a bit more about our trip and what we were looking for, they recommended the Hotel Marignan Paris for with it’s modern design, daily breakfast included, and a central location…it was the perfect spot for us!

Tucked away on a quiet side street just off the Champs Elysées, Hotel Marignan Paris is a short stroll away from the Arc de Triomphe and the Grand Palais on Paris’ Right Bank (8th arrondissement). It was about a 20 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower (which we walked to every day, since our daughter Sienna loved it so much!) and with a Metro stop just a block away, it was perfect for longer day trips to other parts of the city. And LOVE LOVE that we could see the Eiffel Tower from our room (the tower sparkles on the hour throughout the night which is pretty magical!) as well as the rooftop of our hotel (seen below).

Our stay here included breakfast each morning (which could be enjoyed in your room or their restaurant), which made it a lot easier for us to make sure we got a good bite to eat (and a cappuccino!) before we left to explore. If you are traveling with a little one, this is so important! If you are on your honeymoon, breakfast in bed makes a pretty sweet way to start your day, right?! :)

Hotel Marignan Paris

We truly loved our stay at Hotel Marignan Paris, but if you are curious what other hotels they recommend in Paris, here is a list of 19 other hotels spread out around Paris. Thanks Mr & Mrs Smith!!

There are so many things to do in Paris…my favorite is still just walking around, exploring and just being in Paris….that’s mostly what we did this trip. :) A few of our favorite activities…

  • Grab a baguette, some cheese, some fruit and a bottle of wine +  picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower
  • Take a boat tour on the Seine River — preferably sunset!
  • Sit in a cafe + enjoy a glass of rose and people watch – traveling in May we had two raining days, so this was a fun afternoon activity while Sienna napped :)
  • Macarons … or a nutella crepe … or any type of pastry + a cappuccino

Paris activites

There are lots of macaron shops, but my favorite will always be Ladurée (pictured above) – and they even have a pretty gorgeous shop in the Paris airport to get some treats for friends + family (or yourself!).

If you happen to be traveling with a little one (our Sienna was 2 for this trip), there are lots of parks + playgrounds around the city, which she loved! And the carousels! Love that we kept finding these all over the city.

So, which areas are best for exploring? Here are our favorite areas, but if you have any other areas we should add, please leave a comment, we’d love to hear!!

  • Notre Dame, the Left Bank and Le Jardin du Luxembourg
  • The 3rd Arr. around the Centre Pompidou (lots of cute shops and cafes here plus the Centre Pompidou is perfect for a raining day)
  • The Seine River, the Louvre Museum and the Jardin des Tuileries
  • Sacre Coeur and Montmarte – be sure to stop and have some creme brûlée at Cafe des Deux Moulins (the cafe from Amelie seen in the bottom right)

Paris Honeymoon

We had to look for our love lock that Jason and I left here last time but alas way too many locks!! And then heard the next day that the locks are coming down…

Love you Paris….such a romantic city… even with the gloomy weather we had it was still as magical as always! I think Paris paired with Amsterdam (where we went next and we’ll be sharing next week!) would pair for the perfect honeymoon combo.

Thanks again to Mr & Mrs Smith for helping us find the perfect hotel and click here to learn more about how they can help you plan your dream honeymoon…if that might be to Paris or somewhere else magical as they have hotels all over the world!
