I’m so in love with today’s sweet homespun wedding. Loren + Levi were married at the Weston Red Barn Farm in Weston, Missouri. The wedding was put together beautifully with lots of help from family + friends. A bit into their day from the lovely couple, “We wanted everyone who came to our wedding to feel welcomed in to the beautiful, and even playful, story of our relationship with God and each other. For our ceremony, this meant writing our own vows which we gave in a meadow inside of a roof-less, wall-less (but with doors and windows!) chapel lovingly built by the groomsmen and ushers. For our reception, it meant a bunch of whimsical details: trivia questions to find your table number, mason jar seating cards for catching fireflies, kombucha on tap, a bon fire with s’mores, cookies (baked by a bridesmaid!)-and-milk for favors. We also focused on local items to celebrate the city where we fell in love.” So precious! Big thanks to Ashley + Jeremy of The Parsons for the gorgeous photos.
Loren’s wedding dress was custom made by Janay A. Handmade from eco-friendly hemp silk, featuring vinatge lace and doilies, some of which were heirlooms from both Loren and Levi’s families. Her gorgeous hairpiece is by one of my favorites, Lo Boheme.
What a lovely ceremony location – I just love that it really does seem like an outdoor church. :)
What song did you walk down the aisle to? You Have Ravished My Heart by Brian Johnson, sung by Levi’s dear friend and groomsman Keter True
Your exit song? Joyful, Joyful, an old hymn updated and made fun and funky by Laura Hackett on IHOP’s Joy CD
Most memorable moment of your wedding day? It’s a tie between 1) the kiss, which was our FIRST kiss…enough said; and 2) we were kind of surprised by this, but our first dance. Our friends, Keter and Lael, performed the song we had asked them to and then surprised us with a beautiful medley, weaving in the song Loren had just walked down the aisle to. At that moment, it felt like it was just the two of us, and the intensity of what had just happened an hour before when we vowed to love each other forever was heavy upon us. We finished with teary eyes, ready to start the celebration!
Love them celebrating right after the ceremony!
Loren and her friends put together all the bouquets and centerpieces with locally-grown flowers from Pendleton’s Country Market in Lawrence, Kansas.
Any advice for those planning now? First, remember that a wedding is primarily about a marriage, the official beginning of learning to love someone for a lifetime. Second, have fun with the details, but when it comes down to the few days around the wedding, don’t hold onto them too tightly. We had lots of details planned, some of which worked out, some of which didn’t, but when we had little hiccups we didn’t let it bother us too much. And, remember that the wedding is mostly about you and your beloved…in the midst of it all, fight for whatever it takes for your hearts to feel present and aware of what you’re stepping into on that day.
We also wanted to say that The Parsons are amazing, amazing people…it was more like having dear friends there with us on the day of than just photographers.
Congrats to Loren + Levi! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful day with us. And be sure to check out their wedding on The Parsons blog – lots more photos there!

Do you know where that “don’t give up” poster is from in the second to last image?
Absolutely LOVE this!!1 Amazing image coping and composition of the photographer and beautiful wedding of cause. Great job!
Wow. There is SO MUCH that I love about this wedding. First of all, the bride looks like an angel with the little halo in her hair. And I’m also really IN LOVE with the groom’s outfit! The gray is really nice (sending the link to my fiance right away so he can check it out). And in addition to the “inside-out” cake (not sure if that’s what it’s actually called), I’m also in love with the vintage details (hankies, china, etc.) I wrote a post yesterday about collecting vintage items including hankies and bottles for a wedding and just thought I’d share: http://jenniferanneking.blogspot.com/2011/08/sweet-vintage-its-all-in-details.html
This is breathtaking! Wish there were more photos! love it when you can see the chemistry between a couple! This was such a treat!
