A Gold-Dipped Wedding with Millennial Pink Accents

Gold bridesmaids

Artistic + unique, with gold-dipped everything and accents of millennial pink. Emily + Jake know a thing or two about weddings — the two of them have photographed many together — and so when it came time to plan their own, they knew immediately what was and wasn’t them. Being an artistic duo (they both studied graphic design), they fused masculine touches throughout the day, to off-set the whimsical millennial pink accents.

Held at Passenger Coffee Roasters Headquarters in downtown Lancaster City, Pennsylvania, the day was filled with tacos, chips + guac, cold brew coffee, and funnel cakes! The reception had a cocktail party vibe with guests gathering around standing tables under sting lights to eat, drink, talk, and have their portraits drawn. The groom even sang his lovely bride a song he wrote… during their vows!

Ready to see how it all came together? Let’s check out the photos captured by Shelby Hostetler Photography.

Our family was a huge part of the day — from being in our bridal party, Jake’s mom on the florals, Jake’s uncle, aunt and cousin were the DJs, we had traditional family cookies at our cookie table, there was footage of our family playing all night in the video loop reel, my Dad made a lot of décor, my cousin played the piano for the ceremony… It was a true family affair!

custom ceremony program

In lieu of an invite, Jake and Emily created a unique, eye-catching wedding website featuring a video teaser reflecting the overall vibe, inspiration, and feel they wanted their wedding day to have. They even created a super fun wedding program that resembled a vintage-style newspaper.

pink x altar

Our DIY projects were many, from the ring boxes to the altar X  — we had a lot of help from family and friends! The altar was Jake’s design, and he and my dad made it together.

Jake’s song to me during the ceremony is called “With No Regard to How.” He initially wrote it for my 22nd birthday and has sung it to me for years — I cry each time! He sang it when he proposed as well.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The song Jake sang as part of his vows, I was totally not expecting that! We also had a moment during the reception when everyone was eating and talking and the weather and ambience was so perfect, that we both just said we were so full of joy to be experiencing that night. We planned intensely to make it a real spectacle and a memorably, crazy-fun, well-branded, completely-thought out night — and it was the most successful project we’ve ever had the joy of working on together. It was also super fun to see my whole family dancing together, even my Mimi who is in her mid 80’s.

We also always wanted an alleyway-vibe for our wedding reception and the string lights and open air feeling for the venue was perfect. We love New York’s nightlife — its spontaneity, and when it’s warm, people are often outside sharing drinks and music and eats, so wanted to bring that to the day, too.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

It’s so important to be true to you and your love's identities and not do anything because you feel it’s required. We were energized by the idea that the day was a celebration of God’s work in our lives and a giant ‘thank you’ gesture to the dear friends and family who have been so integral to our relationship.
