Katie + Justin wanted their wedding day to be chic, modern and elegant yet comfortable and cozy. Making their wedding day about the two of them was easy for these cuties. They chose an officiant that was special to both of them (their aunt) and then prioritized the details that meant the most to them – like the food! Since they are both total foodies, serving delicious food was a must. :) They also mixed traditional and nontraditional elements to create an ambience true to them. They included only the Jewish traditions that were meaningful to them, such as getting married under a chuppah, breaking the glass and dancing to the hoorah. Instead of a cake, they served their favorite desserts, including mini ice cream cones + cinnamon sugar churros. Yum!
And I just LOVE all the pretty pink ombre details! Each table had various distressed bronze buckets filled with fuchsia, pink or blush flowers to create an ombre effect. The chuppah and ceremony details also had lots of pretty ombre effects as well as their paper details. Thanks so much to Erin Hearts Court for the gorgeous photos!
I will never forget the rush of emotions I felt as I heard my processional song start to play. I wasn't expecting to get so emotional. Luckily, my mom kicked over a lantern on our walk down the aisle which made for the perfect comic relief.
Processional: Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles, Stand By Me – Ben E. King, Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Israel Kamakawiwo Ole'
Recessional: Home – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
First Dance: First Day of My Life – Bright Eyes
Katie and her sister made the confetti streamers used to decorate the podium and gift table. Katie’s mother made pillows, the ring bearer pillow and table runners used on the banquet tables. Homemade granola, prepared by the Katie’s mother and sister, was wrapped in muslin pouches labeled “A Breakfast Treat”, and given as favors.
Take your time making the big decisions. Don't rush into decisions just to check things off your list. And as cliche as it may sound, don't sweat the small stuff. On the day of your wedding you won't care!
