Modern Minimalist Wedding Inspiration at the Salton Sea

Delphine Manivet Dress

For any of you who have visited the Salton Sea, we bet you can attest to its beautiful + mysterious atmosphere. Megan from Festive Event Planning wanted to style a minimal, modern editorial on the sea banks, incorporating natural elements — such as marble, stones and greenery — and romantic décor into the white sand setting. She teamed up with Native Poppy for the textural, visually intriguing blooms and went with a clean color scheme that complemented the natural desert surroundings.

The Salton Sea has recently suffered from a number environmental problems, but despite its decline, it still exudes so much beauty + the team behind this styled shoot wanted to show that there can be beauty found even in unexpected places. (You can learn more about the Salton Sea, and how you can help, here.) Big thanks to Hanna Photography for the truly lovely images below!

The tableware by Borrowed Blu perfectly complemented our theme, combining Carrera white chargers with granite-tone dinnerware and silver flatware along with pink-pressed glassware, which added a romantic, feminine touch. The furniture by Witty Rentals played into our modern concept, adding a midcentury feel that echoed the style of the neighboring Palm Springs area.

The stationery by Prim & Pixie beautifully embodied the feeling of the Salton Sea through its imagery and colors while hinting at the modern and minimalist themes. And adding to the marble elements were the painted name place card holders by Esselle SF and the magnificent, hexagon-shaped, two-tier cake by Frost It Cakery.

The bride carried two desert-y bouquets comprised of the same ingredients: pincushion, banksia, protea, ranunculus, Juliet garden roses, star flower, heather, ferns, rice flower and eucalyptus.
