Stylish Washington Loft Wedding: Anje + Alex

Washington Loft Wedding

If you missed Anje + Alex’s gorgeous mountaintop proposal (which we shared this morning on GWS) be sure to check that out first before diving into this post! If you’re all caught up, then get ready for the beauty to come, because A + A’s wedding, captured by the amazing Benj Haisch, is seriously so dang good!

For the big day, these two wanted to focus on family, friends and fun. (Those are basically the essentials, right?!) They tried to keep it as simple as possible, taking out all the extras so that the attention could stay on their love and commitment. They wrote their own vows and incorporated stylish, rustic details into the stunning loft setting where they said their I Dos. And since Anje was born + raised in South Africa, she wanted to make at least one big gesture as a nod to her hometown + heritage. She tells us, Proteas are South Africa’s national flower and I have been fascinated by their beauty since I was a little girl. Having them scattered through out our venue and in our bouquets was a constant, sweet reminder of my family and friends who were back home.

And Alex rocked the raddest white suit jacket! He picked his up at ASOS, and since it’s no longer available, we’ve rounded up our fave white + light-hued sport coats for your groom below!

Anje’s bridesmaids each picked their own black lace dress + we’re loving the cohesive, yet individual end result. And, of course, the best accessory of all were those perfect protea bouquets that Petals Design put together for the girls!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Just one?!

I got Alex a custom made surfboard as a wedding gift and really wanted to be there when he got it, so 20 minutes before the ceremony we finally got to share our gifts with one another, what I thought would be a moment with cameras in our faces turned out to be a couple minutes alone, where Alex and I were able to sit with each other one last time, look into each others eyes and get really excited about what we were about to do. I was bawling and he just held me as my heart grew bigger and the excitement of the day and the fact that this was OUR wedding day became a reality.

Shortly after, our pastor and his wife, my sister and Alex's brother came into the room to pray over us, the waterworks continued, I was overwhelmed with the love and support we were experiencing throughout the whole day and in that moment. I was bursting at the seams with joy.

The moments right before walking down the aisle with my dad were really special. It was something I cant quite put in words but I know that we were feeling the same thing. Memories of how he loved and supported me through out my life came flooding in, and I felt so blessed to have him walk me down the aisle.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Get a week of/ day of planner/ coordinator. I thought we would be fine without one but thankfully I had two friends who have coordinated weddings before who I last minute enlisted to help the week of the wedding. It took so much pressure off of me. They were AWESOME! They answered all the questions my family or vendors had, got last minute things situated and helped big time setting things up and being the “point person” on the wedding day so that my family and I could relax and enjoy the day. Seriously, it was one of the best decisions I could have made!
