Glam Engagement Photos Amongst the Cherry Blossom Trees: Brittany + Michael

cherry blossom engagement

What could be a sweeter way to end this sunny spring afternoon then a gorgeous engagement session amongst the cherry blossom trees! As a couple, Brittany + Michael are the perfect balance of playful + polished. And for their engagement session with J. Harper Photography, they wanted images that were relaxed, carefree, and showcased their fun, bohemian style. Mission totally accomplished! Let’s hear a bit about how these cuties met:

Michael + I met in college when we shared an obscure elective class together. I instantly had a crush on him and sat next to him everyday in class, though I never mustered up the courage to talk to him. Finally, on the last day of school, my friends talked me into calling him and inviting him over to a party. Michael is from New Hampshire while I’m from California and I wasn’t sure we would have much in common but as we spent that first night and then the rest of the summer getting to know each other we realized just what a great match we were! 7 years later I still have a serious crush on him!

And now for the cute proposal story:

Michael proposed as we were having some annual photos taken together. I was not expecting the proposal so I was incredibly surprised and having candid shots of the proposal is such a treat as we were able to share “the moment” with friends and family. He also arranged for my best friends to fly in from all over the country to join in on the celebration later that day. It was the most amazing weekend of joy and love.

So, so sweet! Big congrats to B + M and happy weekend to all!

Travel-Inspired Bohemian Wedding: Kristin + James

Florida wedding

Guys, get ready for one of the sweetest weddings you’ll ever see! Kristin + James share that rare type of love that even strangers (like us!) can feel. A love you know will last a lifetime; that radiates through their beautiful wedding photos by Kati Rosado. These two lovebirds tied the knot in a beautiful, historical Florida garden, with a soirée that celebrated their shared passion for global travel + human rights. James is the founder of an amazing not-for-profit organization called Clothe Your Neighbor as Yourself, which is dedicated to serving those in need. They wanted their day to capture their personalities + backgrounds and create a multi-cultural feel throughout the decor. And they achieved that + then some! Atlases, travel maps + sightseeing books were strewn about, Moroccan lamps gave the setting a moody glow, and delicious Cuban food helped them portray the global vibe they were going for. Let’s dive right in to their beautiful day…

There were so many. Washing each other's feet, reading our personalized vows, my husband's surprise musical serenade. But it truly was all a blur, so I recount our favorite memory as the quiet one. The one in the upper room of the garden house, surrounded by parents and siblings, who prayed and kissed us goodbye right before we left the party. Like stopping time for a few minutes, that moment will always be engraved in our memories.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Really. It's ok that my biodegradable retro straws from Brooklyn never got used, it's ok that my undelivered bridesmaids bouquets had to be handcrafted that morning, it's ok that we couldn't have meaningful conservations with every single guest. It was perfect in its imperfections. So don't focus on a plethora of minute details, focus on treasuring the day and life ahead with your precious one.

Hawaiian Elopement Inspiration

hawaii elopement inspiration

I think we’re all guilty of dreaming of running off to a beautiful, exotic location – like Hawaii – to secretly elope. It sounds so dreamy to find a secluded spot where the surf meets the sand to quietly exchange your vows. For those of you who are making your dreams a reality, we’re excited to share this beautiful Hawaiian elopement inspiration that’s all about keeping things simple without compromising style.

With a trip to Hawaii already planned, Kate Ignatowski reached out to Oahu-based dress designer, Joelle Perry, and together they created a setting filled with beautiful Hawaiian florals, an indigo + gold color palette, and a relaxed, romantic vibe. We’re absolutely loving these gorgeous images Kate captured of Joelle + her hubby, Andrew, along the rocky Hawaiian coastline. And we’re sure this shoot will provide lots of great inspiration for couples who want to plan a sweet + stylish elopement that will leave plenty of room in their budget for traveling the world together!
