Winter Wonderland Wedding Inspirations

winter white bouquet

Love this white rosette bouquet below! It is a handmade, white rosette made of vendela roses. It is made of one full rose head and finished with lots of rose petals to give the appearance of a giant, garden style rosette and has an eucalyptus-leaf border.

winter dessert ideas

The tiered dessert display, created by Lemon Sprinkle Events, features some beautiful DIY projects alongside mouthwatering treats. The vanilla buttercream cake is at the center of the spread, surrounded by white chocolate pretzels, vanilla bean taffy, meringues and classic jordan almonds. The cone trees were creating by covering floral Styrofoam with white candy sprinkles, tulle and cut coffee filters to create a snow-covered winter scene. The strands of white circle cutouts behind the table are also a simple and pretty addition to any wedding or event.

Above bouquet is Ranunculus Bouquet with Tulle TuTu:  A romantic, hand-tied bouquet of all white ranunculus.  Finished with a baby blue tulle “tutu”, which serves as the perfect touch of “something blue.”

A bouquet of baby’s breath is so chic and very affordable! They wrapped the bouquet with a strand of tiny pearls also to give it a bit more style.

free wedding photography contest

Yep, remember that fun Palm Springs wedding I shared this morning? It was photographed by the rad duo of EP Love. I’ve had the pleasure to work with Rog and Lyndzee in the past year and they are two of the nicest, most fun people you will meet! They are offering one lucky GWS couple the chance to have FREE wedding photography – how awesome is that? Read above for all the details and send them your ideas and any questions you might have. Don’t wait, you have until Sat Feb 5th at Midnight PST to get them your entries! Send them to roger {at}eplove[dot]net. Thanks so much Rog and Lyndzee!! Oh, and once they pick their 3 favorites, they will post them on their blog and we can vote on whose wedding you would like them to photograph – and maybe even see them here on GWS later this year! Best of luck to all those who enter!

Real Wedding: Kristin + Matt’s Palm Springs Wedding

Matt + Kristin met through their dogs, so they only saw it fit to brand the wedding as so. From Kristin, Our theme started as a combination of our love of all things vintage, quirky, eclectic, modern, and earthy. Planning things on our own, with so much amazing inspiration, it was initially hard to edit our vision. When we sat down to make our wedding invitations with our friend Jon, he started pulling images of our dogs to add to the invitations and came up with what we ended up calling our wedding logo. This combined with geometric, retro-inspired patterns created by our friend Dresden led us to what we can best summarize as “Modern puppy love.”

Big thanks to Rog + Lyndzee of EP Love for sharing their work with us today!

outdoor wedding ceremony

Most memorable moment of your wedding day? Although Matt was at first reluctant to include our dogs in the ceremony for fear of them ruining it with bad behavior, I was insistent on having them there. We each had a dog, and they really are like our children. Each of our moms walked our dogs down the aisle, and they had front row seats for the ceremony. Our ceremony was abruptly interrupted by our Cockapoo “Sawyer” loudly throwing up. This was exactly what Matt had feared would happen. I turned and told everyone “welcome to our life” and was relieved when everyone, including Matt, started laughing. That was one moment, among many incredible memories, that we will fondly remember for the rest of our lives.

Any advice for those planning now? Planning a wedding on your own and on a budget is tough so I would decide what is most important to you (photos for us!) and splurge there, then let the rest fall into place. And if you figure out a way to afford it, hire a wedding planner!! I think that would have taken a lot off our plates. Besides that, what everyone tells you is true: to enjoy all the little moments – both with your fiance as well as your friends and family. It’s one of the times in life that really brings everyone together, and it just goes by so quickly!

This day is about YOU and your spouse. Looking at our photos we feel like we made it really personal, and love that we can now look into our garden and have those special reminders that our love is not the only thing growing each day. Whatever your budget, you are spending a lot of money, so do whatever will bring you the most happiness in the future.
