Sweet Summer Engagement Photos

I know it’s technically fall, but here in LA it still feels like summer (actually warmer now then it’s been most of the summer here!) so I thought it was a great time to share these fun engagement photos sent to me from Katie Stoops. I love this couple’s sweet trip to the river, then off to the fair – how fun! Oh, and her crown of daisies – perfect! :)

Pretty Invitations

A Pretty + Fun invitation really gives your guest the first impression of your wedding, so that is why I’m such a fan of doing some unique and totally about you as a couple. Some of my favorites I’ve seen around the web this past week…

The thing that grabbed my eye for these first invitaions are the lovely collection of vintage stamps and the gorgeous script type – oh, and it is my favorite too, letterpress. The invitations were designed by the bride Nichole Tremblay and printed by Studio on Fire. Nicole put the invites together tying the cards together with a textural gauze ribbon and even made her own lined envelopes. And how gorgeous are her stamp collages on the envelopes!? Each envelope was different – little works of art unto themselves. This is one invite that wouldn’t go in the trash!

How cute is the envelope liner? :) They will be bowling at the reception dinner – how fun!

And I love mason jars, so when I saw Kristin + Dale’s fun invites (they have a gnome on the invite!), I was smitten! {via FPO}

We don’t talke a lot about Bridal Showers, but they are such a fun part of the whole wedding process also. I love the delicate, hand-stitched look that Kelli Murray created for these invites.  She also included an extra note card in the invitation in which the girls could write their favorite recipe and bring it back to the shower.  Then they presented Dana a recipe book she will have for her new home. :)

Win a Love Shoot from Clayton Austin on the Hammers & Strings Tour!

hammers and strings photography

If you’ve been reading GWS for awhile now, you know I LOVE great photography. There are lots of different styles out there and I try to share lots of them here so you can get a better idea what type of photography you would like to invest in for your wedding and engagement/anniversary photos. One of my most favorite photographers is Clayton Austin. His style is very distinct: artistic, vintage inspired and extremely passionate. His portrait sessions are always amazing. I don’t think I’ve seen one that hasn’t taken my breath away! Clayton is about to embark on a fun adventure, the Hammers & Strings Tour. Beginning on October 13, he will travel with his beloved piano and photograph couples in love in some of the most breathtaking landscapes. The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Salt Flats and more. And I’m so excited to announce that Clayton found an amazing spot in Malibu and has offered to photograph one lucky couple from Green Wedding Shoes on his tour!! So, for all of you that dream of having AMAZING romantic photos of you and your honey, this is your chance.

The details:

You must be available on Sunday, October 24 in Malibu, CA. You must be in love. :) And the fun part…if you read Clayton’s blog you know he is also an amazing writer and storyteller. I love that. I wish I could tell stories like that! Well, we thought it would be fun to play off that idea by having you tell us a song lyric that best describes your relationship as a couple. So, if you are interested in having your photos taken by Clayton and can be in Malibu on Sunday, October 24th, just leave a comment in this post with a single line from a song that best represents your love/relationship. Fun and easy, right? Clayton and I will pick our favorites and then we’ll have you the readers vote for the couple you would like to see Clayton photograph! We will close comments on Sunday Sept 26th at 10pm PST and name the finalists later in the week. Have fun and I can’t wait to read your song lyrics!

Prize will consist of:

• Hammers & Strings session on Sunday, October 24, 2010
• 50 images
• DVD of high resolution images on DVD with limited rights to print
• 1 10×10, 20 side flush mount album
• 1 11×14 print signed and numbered as limited edition.
