Sweet Engagement Photos – and a Proposal Caught on Film!

Love when new (to me) photographers introduce me to their work. Shannen Natasha is a faithful reader and sent me this super cute engagement session. She is a photographer in Riverside CA. From Shannen, For their engagements we started out at the bride’s house in Riverside, CA. They had an old tandem bike that they wanted to use for some photos…it looked awesome but we were worried it wouldn’t even make it through the shoot as it was so old and creaky haha…thankfully it did….just barely ;) We did a few more photos in her parents yard on a swing with some books. The couple has been dating since high school and are set to graduate college in December so all of their dating lives they’ve been hitting the books…so we thought it to be fitting to include those in their shoot.

We really wanted to go somewhere woodsy so we began driving to Forest Falls…about the lowest spot in the San Bernardino Mountains that you can go that will have pine trees and that rustic romantic atmosphere. Now, I knew Candyce and Daniel wanted to find some stream or something of the sort, but it was September in California and we’re in a drought…I was pretty sure we weren’t going to find anything more than a trickle. Luckily we had a very very happy finding as we stumbled across this little wading pool. It made the perfect backdrop for the casual ‘rustic’ pictures they were hoping for. After that we were basically running around using tunnels, the middle of the mountain road, and a pitchfork to set up our last few shots…including an ode to American Gothic.

Oh, and I love this trend I’ve been seeing more and more of – getting the proposal caught on film! Yep, Shannen managed to capture this moment a few months ago. Love Candyce’s reaction – so sweet!

A Thanksgiving Dessert Table by Amy Atlas (and more!)

Like many of you, I’m totally smitten with the lovely dessert tables Amy Atlas creates. She created a beautiful dessert table for Thanksgiving that is just too cute not to share! So yummy looking and so pretty!

I also love this fall inspired table she created with a faux-bois pattern and acorns as the inspiration for the story. You can even find the recipe for the yummy looking Cinnamon Pistachio Meringue and the acorn garland on her blog!

And of course, I couldn’t help but share this fun green table – with macarons and popcorn – my two favorites! This was created for a birthday party, but how fun would it be for a bridal shower – or even reception?! See more of this table here.

Twilight Wedding Inspiration

Ok fellow Twilight fans, today is the day – New Moon is out! Anyone planning to see it this weekend? I’m hoping to catch it on Sunday. I know the Twilight wedding isn’t until book 3 book 4 – Breaking Dawn, but I thought it would be fun to do a post on some wedding inspiration from the movie. Who doesn’t love a good love story! I think that is what attracts a lot of us to the Twilight stories – ok, ok, maybe Rob Pattison has something to do with us loving the movies also :) I’ve been in Twilight mood the past few weeks – along with a lot of us! – and I’ve been thinking there are some great ideas you can bring into your wedding – or I hope we will see in Bella and Edward’s wedding…

The location of Forks, Washington would make for some amazing pre-wedding photos.

Fashion. Bella’s favorite color is brown, so how perfect are these fun sparkling brown shoes to bring a bit of brown in. I love the long flowy hair – simple and elegant. Also, a great necklace with a red jewel would make a great statement. For the groom, I love a more modern look.

A ruffled tulip for the flowers. According to legend, the tulip symbolizes “perfect love.” I picture Bella in a wedding dress with some vintage lace inspiration. Bridesmaids in dark, deep red.

The ceremony would take place in the woods. How perfect is this setting below? Music played on a piano of course!

Lots and lots of twinkling lights. There needs to be dancing under the lights :)

Reception with lots of ruffled tulips and Italian food. An exit with lots of red ribbons.

What do you guys think, how do you picture their wedding? Anyone getting married in the woods of the Northwest? Such a dreamy location!
